Asylum Challenge #161: Don't Scare Me Like That.

A few days had passed, Hayden finally leaves solitary with a heavy heart and a lot on his mind.

------------------------------------------------------------

Darwin heads outside for another late-night swim. "HAYDEN!" He screams.

Hayden just stops in his tracks and turns with a more chipper tone than usual. "Hey Darwin, came for a swim too?"

"Don't do it man...."

"Do what?" He asks, coy.

"Do you really wanna drown yourself?"

"I'm not, I'm just out for a swim...."

"I don't know if I trust you."

"Well that's fine then." He says, going back to swimming.

"A broken heart isn't worth losing your life." Darwin explains, "She's not worth it."

"As I said....I'm just out for a swim."

"Do you feel guilty? For scaring Carla and killing Hannah?" He asks bluntly.

"Carla yes, Hannah no because I didn't kill her."

Darwin curls in his lips and exhales deeply through his nose.

"What? I didn't...."

"Sure. Just don't do anything crazy.....again."

"Hey?" Hayden stops again, looking back up at him.

"What?"

"Would you miss me if I was gone?"

"Don't talk like that...."

"I'm just asking."

"Well it would be weird without you here." He responds.

"Hm I'll take that as a yes I guess."

They both go for a quiet swim for a good hour.

Hayden startles Darwin by stopping again, they bump into each other.

"I thought about it...." Hayden says.

"About what?"

"I wouldn't be killing myself just for her, I'd be doing it for all I've done wrong, I'm finally coming to terms with it all and I realized I do deserve to be here."
